About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Electrical Test Engineer for ERMCO’s Athens, GA plant.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical testing on transformers and components using established ERMCO standards and applicable industry requirements.
- Design and develop electrical test systems and components for distribution transformers, reactors and special transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA).
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis to optimize cost, performance and efficiency.
- Perform and oversee failure analysis on design and production related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and ensure competitive product designs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in design processes and methodologies.
- Maintain a safe work environment for development, troubleshooting and acceptance testing of test equipment including medium voltage level (up to 100 kV).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5-6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on transformer and related products testing and/or design.
- Proven ability to perform design projects from concept to production.
- Extensive experience with electrical testing of transformers and testing equipment.
- Extensive experience and knowledge with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex technical challenges independently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.
- Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design and production related issues.
