Electrical Technician/HVAC Support

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, outlets, lighting systems, motors, fans, and related equipment
- Install, maintain, and upgrade EMT conduit, electrical systems in accordance with code requirements
- Inspect and maintain electrical panels, breakers, disconnects, generators and safety devices
- Support fire alarm system maintenance and testing
- Aid in electrical planning for renovation and construction projects
- Work with the maintenance manager in recommending upgrades to energy efficient lighting
- Perform routine maintenance on air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and related controls
- Assist with troubleshooting HVAC equipment and control systems
- Support maintenance of coolers, freezers, and food service equipment
- Participate in seasonal start-up and shutdown procedures
- Perform minor plumbing, carpentry, and building repairs as needed
- Assist with door hardware, locks, furniture repairs, and general facility upkeep
- Respond to work orders and provide timely, courteous service to campus stakeholders
- Follow established preventive maintenance schedules for electrical and HVAC systems
- Document completed work and identify emerging issues requiring follow-up
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous electrical maintenance experience required
- HVAC experience or training preferred
- Electrical license or certification preferred
- Refrigeration license beneficial but not required
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and safety standards
- Knowledge of 120V, 208V, 277V and 480V systems
- Knowledge of NEC codes
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and controls
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks as required
- Provides excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff
- Physical requirements include: lifting up to 50 lbs (~30% weekly), overhead reaching (~15% weekly), ladder use (~15% weekly), squatting (~20% weekly)
