Position Overview

Sofidel America of _______ is seeking a skilled Electronic and Instrumentation Technician to join their team. This is a long-term position in a stable and supportive environment where your expertise will contribute to improving operational systems, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and technical expertise to improve operational systems and product quality.
  • Perform and assist with operations to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.
  • Communicate openly between shifts and use designated computer systems to input work orders, track required work, and track parts in inventory.
  • Perform preventative electrical maintenance on electrical equipment and instrument systems, troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and recommend steps to be taken.
  • Monitor instruments to ensure they are within range and perform preventative maintenance such as changing contacts, checking motors, and operating robotic systems.
  • Repair electrical and electronic systems, including any electromechanical production equipment, and PLC/DCS programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Program computerized monitoring systems, monitor output to ensure settings are correct, install cables, conduit, and instrumentation for new equipment or instruments, examine equipment to identify potential problems, and participate in process improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with other team members to resolve problems and determine the root causes, recommend improvements, and make adjustments.
  • Manage and work with contractors and vendors to enhance efficiency, output, technology, and safety of the plant.
  • Read and use all types of electrical schematic wiring diagrams and stay updated on new innovations and techniques in the specialized field.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of others.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (two-year college or technical school) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or Automation/Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum Requirement: High School or equivalent with two plus years of experience in related areas, including industrial manufacturing internship and/or co-op experience.

Work Environment

  • Employees will use computers and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
