Electrical Technician

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and highly self-directed Electrical Technician who will periodically receive work assignments from the Technical Supervisor. The incumbent normally works alone but may coordinate with other technicians to repair electrical equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting or overseeing the work of contract or Energy Transfer employees in the installation or maintenance of electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and recommend corrective actions based on test results for major electrical equipment such as transformer diagnostics, infrared surveys, protective relay calibrations, and motor diagnostics.
• Carry out preventive maintenance programs, complete installation and construction assignments, and perform overhauls and reconditioning of equipment.
• Perform routine testing and logging of pipeline safety checks as required by DOT regulations and Company policies.
• Investigate and diagnose reported problems, making required repairs and adjustments to restore equipment and facilities to proper operation for all electrical equipment located at pipeline pump stations, delivery facilities, breakout tank farms, and warehouse and office buildings.
• Diagnose non-electrical problems and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Maintain a spare parts inventory to prevent lengthy service interruptions and order parts and repair materials following Company policies.
• Use and operate all pertinent safety equipment (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.) in potentially hazardous areas.
• Display workmanship consistent with industry standards, company work practices, applicable codes, and engineering drawings.
• Subject to 24-hour emergency call-out to restore operations of pipeline facilities system-wide.
• Communicate with other technicians for assistance in effecting repairs when applicable.
• Provide field expertise in electrical equipment specification, repairs (including inspection of vendor/contractor work), and equipment selection for construction and maintenance.
• Assist in the preparation of work scope for maintenance issues and construction projects.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in electrical/electronics from an accredited college, university, or vocational school (e.g., AA/AS/AAS/BA/BS/TSD/APP) or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years of pipeline electrical maintenance experience.
• Journeyman or Journeyman Class Electrician qualified to work on 13,200 volt and below, substation, and switchgear equipment.
• Capable of assessing emergency conditions and recommending, performing, and overseeing safe and efficient corrective actions.
• General familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), ladder logic, electrical control circuitry (including large motor control), VFD circuitry, protective relays, and similar equipment.
• Computer literate with basic skills in MS Windows, Word, Excel, email, and Internet usage.
• Able to work alone and outdoors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor safely.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license for the state of residence.
