Electrical Systems Design Engineer – Overhead Cranes
About the role
Qualdoc Staffing is seeking an experienced Electrical Crane Engineer / Electrical Controls Designer to join our team in Ashland, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, controls engineering, installation, and troubleshooting of overhead crane systems.
Responsibilities
- Create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
- Use tools and software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PLC programming languages like Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
- Apply VFDs, motor control systems, limit switches, and safety devices in crane or industrial applications
- Work with CMAA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and ASME B30 standards in project execution
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of overhead crane systems or similar equipment
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience working with overhead crane systems, specifically in electrical design, controls engineering, installation, or troubleshooting
- Experience creating and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
- Experience with VFDs, motor control systems, limit switches, and safety devices in crane or industrial applications
- Familiarity with and application of CMAA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and ASME B30 standards in projects
- Experience supporting installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of overhead crane systems or similar equipment
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Skills
- Proficiency in electrical design and controls engineering
- Experience with VFDs, motor control systems, limit switches, and safety devices
- Knowledge of CMAA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and ASME B30 standards
