About the role

The Electrical Supervisor will help manage the repair, alteration, and preventative maintenance of the plant to improve operational productivity. They will supervise industrial electricians to efficiently and effectively complete both planned and unplanned maintenance needs. In conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, the role balances priorities, manpower, material, and equipment availability to develop department and individual work schedules. The position ensures safety, work quality, and productivity of electrical technicians through direct leadership and coordination with the production department.

Responsibilities

• Supervise electricians and work performed by contractors.
• Manage planned and unplanned electrical maintenance work for daily operations and maintenance outages.
• Provide on-the-spot, on-the-job equipment-related expertise and technical guidance.
• Enhance communication and coordination between maintenance and other departments, especially production.
• Effectively manage planned maintenance hours to maximize machine line efficiency and production volumes.
• Actively participate in planning, coordination, and implementation of electrical and maintenance activities to ensure timely and successful completion with excellent machine reliability.
• Follow up on issues that did’t go as planned during shutdowns and implement methods to prevent future occurrences.
• Provide technical assistance on electrical equipment problems, including high voltage distribution equipment and high voltage motors/generators.
• Inspect and approve completed jobs to ensure quality of work and reduce re-work.
• Provide a safe workplace through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping, and defined training standards.
• Lead maintenance department safety meetings.
• Monitor compliance to safety policies and procedures, conduct plant area inspections, and ensure deficiencies are resolved or communicated.
• Ensure electricians are well trained, involved, and committed to meeting department expectations, including following all safety requirements.
• Support department expense target goals by minimizing maintenance costs without negatively impacting operating results.
• Support efforts to minimize costs for major repair items and reduce purchased maintenance costs by utilizing company personnel for maintenance and capital projects.
• Evaluate alternative parts or new suppliers to improve costs.
• Identify work opportunities that can be performed in-house versus by outside resources.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify and correct the root causes of events, rather than addressing symptoms.
• Support large capital projects within the plant.
• Participate in maintenance efforts to review equipment design, layout, and safety aspects of new equipment.
• Ensure maintenance technicians understand changes resulting from new equipment.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred, or technical school training/diploma/certification.
• A minimum of 5+ years electrical experience in operations and maintenance of large industrial plants.
• Broad knowledge of electrical equipment and systems in a mining/manufacturing operation.
• Industrial Journeyman Electrician (Kremlin Only) required; Master Industrial Electrician (Kremlin Only) preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency using root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Proficiency in electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, PLC programming, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, and sketches; familiarity with standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency in planning and scheduling maintenance work.
• Advanced understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E.
• 1+ years supervisory experience in an industrial operation.
