About the role

Supervises personnel and activities on-shift to achieve or exceed production standards for a quality product in a safe manner and within customer specifications. Assigns and maintains work flow, checks progress and quality of work, assists employees in daily activities, and ensures compliance with production schedules.

Responsible for proper job sequencing, setup, accuracy of work, time card information, overtime recording, material and tool storage flow. Coordinates with related departments, ensures adherence to safety and quality control procedures, and maintains efficient utilization of manpower and machinery, including training new personnel. Oversees housekeeping and safe work practices, recommends purchases of supplies and equipment, and prepares production reports and records.

Performs constant surveillance of machinery and equipment, shadows the current PLC Programmer to learn PLC programming and troubleshooting, and assists the Plant Programmer in streamlining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and maintain workflow, monitor progress, and ensure quality of work.
  • Assist employees in daily work activities and ensure compliance with production schedules.
  • Verify accuracy of work, time card information, and record overtime.
  • Maintain proper material and tool storage flow.
  • Coordinate with related departments and enforce safety and quality control procedures.
  • Ensure efficient use of manpower and machinery, including training new personnel.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe work practices.
  • Recommend and initiate purchase requisitions for supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports and records.
  • Monitor machinery and equipment constantly.
  • Shadow PLC Programmer to learn PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Assist Plant Programmer in projects to streamline operations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • 2–4 years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • 2–4 years of industrial maintenance and electrical experience.
  • Experience using both DC and AC motors, VF drives, and controlled systems (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two-year technical degree in electrical engineering, technology, or related field preferred.
  • Background in Programmable Logic Controllers, computer systems, and electronics.

Skills

  • Computer skills: Excel, Word, PeopleSoft, and MaintScape.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and understand US and European schematics.
  • Basic panel building (circuit building), push button additions, and relay base changes for correct voltage and amp draw.
  • Exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.
  • Experience in design, repair, and analysis of electrical systems.
  • Functional knowledge of multi-meter, amp meter, and Megger for AC/DC voltage, continuity checks, amp testing, and insulation testing.
  • High voltage experience (220–480 VAC).
  • 24Vdc control voltage troubleshooting experience.
  • Signal voltage (0–10Vdc) experience.
  • Familiarity with servos, drives, and PLC programming basics, including understanding of PLC functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently sits and uses hands to finger, handle, or feel (keyboard or write). Occasionally stands, walks, and reaches with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects exceeding 10 pounds.
