Electrical Superintendent

About the role
This project requires mobilizing to the Lathrop, MO site for the project duration. The Electrical Superintendent will interface with and monitor direct-hire supervision and/or major subcontractor supervision and field engineering. Responsibilities include ensuring project requirements and expectations are met regarding craft and supervisory performance, productivity, and subcontractor performance. The role ensures adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and performance expectations as defined by Black & Veatch. For union projects, the superintendent ensures daily project execution aligns with Black & Veatch National Maintenance and Project Labor Union Agreements, understands local union agreements, and establishes working relationships with local union representatives.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Construction Manager to ensure adherence to Black & Veatch Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs.
- Report inappropriate conduct by site personnel to the Construction Manager and project Safety Manager.
- Monitor, verify, and report on construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule; track and report on project schedule activities and commodity installation.
- Resolve problems related to drawings, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety with craft/subcontractors/superintendents.
- Monitor discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost; report to Construction Manager and Field Project Controls Manager and take actions to maintain targets.
- Ensure adherence to Black & Veatch standards and lessons learned; communicate new project lessons learned for future implementation.
- Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor a 3-Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope; create corrective plans to meet progress and productivity targets.
- Verify availability of materials, manpower, and resources to support the 3-Week Look Ahead Schedule.
- Develop, monitor, and report on completion of craft/subcontractor punch list activities.
- Maintain a daily log for site records.
- Review craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Monitor supplier Technical Service Representative (TSR) daily log and review/approve their timesheets.
- Coordinate assigned craft/subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other discipline Superintendents/Facilitators and Construction Manager.
- Monitor assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract scope and schedule requirements; develop stable working relationships.
- Work with Field Subcontract Administrator to prepare extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs).
- Work with the Construction Engineer to compile or answer Contractor Information Requests (CIRs).
- Administer the execution of work packages and equipment installation.
- Develop and distribute Job Hazard Analyses for major erection packages within scope.
- Identify potential back charges and out-of-scope issues; report to Construction Manager and support commercial recovery process.
- Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards; support continuous improvement efforts and change management.
- Supervise direct-hire projects' general foremen and foremen, as well as CM projects' subcontractors, superintendents, and field engineers.
Management Responsibilities
- Supervise the work of others, including hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates.
Requirements
- 11+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on equivalent projects.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction Management or Engineering degree.
- Industrial Relations Training.
- Completion of cost control, back charges, and schedule training.
- Completion of construction management and contract administration training.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties; repetitive movement.
- Work above 5 feet in height; climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.

- Work in very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures; exposure to inclement weather (dust, wind, snow, rain).
