Summary of Primary Functions

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all electrical installations, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple job sites. This senior role involves managing multiple crews of electricians, ensuring compliance with safety codes, project specifications, and industry standards. The superintendent coordinates and supervises daily operations, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all electrical crews on the project, ensuring work is completed according to safety codes, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Cookordinate daily operations and workflows, ensuring tasks are delegated appropriately and executed on schedule.
  • Review and approve timesheets, ensuring accurate reporting of hours worked and project progress.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the project teams, clients, and project coordinators, facilitating clear communication and addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of electrical work.
  • Provide regular reports on project status, including timelines, milestones, and any potential delays or complications.
  • Ensure all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available and organized for the crew to work efficiently.
  • Enforce safety regulations and ensure all work complies with health and safety standards.
  • Resolve conflicts or issues between crew members, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform electrical disconnect/removal/reconnect of machinery.
  • Perform all facets of electrical work for new installations, renovations, machine relocations and installations, troubleshooting and repairs of electrical systems.
  • Work with various types of process machinery in industrial and automotive plants.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot conveyor systems.
  • Handle data, controls, and PLC systems for automation.
  • Install and maintain conduit and wiring systems.
  • Work with cable trays and multi-conductor cables.
  • Install and maintain transformers, switches, sensors, relays, starters, motors, and other electrical components.
  • Oversee low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Work with and have knowledge of wire pulling and conduit bending tools.
  • Work with and have knowledge of how to properly use multi-meters, insulation resistance test equipment, and data cable certification instruments.
  • Knowledge and experience pulling and terminating Cat5/5e/6/6a/7 data cables.
  • Maintain habits of cleanliness and high degree of workmanship.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess quality, compliance, and adherence to project specifications, providing guidance to crews as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments or contractors on-site to ensure coordination and smooth execution of electrical tasks.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma preferred but not required.
  • Certifications: 30-hour Construction OSHA required. NFPA 70E is required. NCCER is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 4+ years as an electrical supervisor or superintendent are highly desirable. 6+ years of electrical experience in industrial settings.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and manufacturer's literature.
  • Work installing conveyor systems or with EV batteries highly preferred.
  • Experience in scoping jobs, ordering materials, and managing project requirements.
  • Must have previously worked on energized circuits and equipment in accordance with safety policies.
  • In-depth understanding and up-to-date knowledge of NEC rules and codes.
  • Key Competencies: Valid driver’s license NFPA 70E certification Work on energized circuits and equipment as outlined in Safety Policy Understanding and current knowledge of NEC rules and codes Experience of scoping jobs and ordering materials Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines Able to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times Must be willing to travel Must pass drug screen Coordinate eye-hand movements Use hands and fingers fully Reach for, manipulate, and handle objects Stoop, lay, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl for unforeseeable periods of time Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures See and hear well (either naturally or with correction) Lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 lbs Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
