About the Role

The Superintendent will oversee operations and field personnel responsible for the installation, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials/equipment for assigned jobs. This is a traveling position, reporting to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct all field personnel, including orientation, timekeeping, daily reports, safety reports, accident reports, and disciplinary reports.
• May function as the Site Safety Representative for the project.
• Perform construction takeoffs using the bid estimate as a guideline, planning the job in the most efficient and profitable manner.
• Ensure all materials are ordered and received in a timely manner to comply with the job work schedule.
• Work closely with Fabrication to maximize savings on field material installation and labor.
• Maintain required personal tools as directed by leadership.
• Read and comply with guidelines in the Employee Handbook, Safety Manual, or Policy and Procedure Manual, and ensure field employees do the same.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• High School Graduate/GED required; Journeyman Electrician or completion of Apprenticeship Program required.
• Minimum of 6 years of electrical experience preferred in industrial or commercial construction.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong commercial and industrial electrical background.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using sophisticated test equipment (DMM, Megger, PQM, UCT, IR Camera, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Ability to safely operate and maintain a specialized electrical service vehicle.
• Professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Necessary computer and keyboard skills.
• CPR and First Aid trained.
• Ability to manage customer and company-specific information and documentation in an organized manner.
• High levels of productivity, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Effective and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be on 24-hour call on a rotating basis, as needed.
• Pass references, background check, and drug screen testing.

Working Conditions

• Work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
• Carry required personal tools at all times (waist tool belt weighs approximately 30 lbs).
• Work from ladders and transport/relocate them unassisted.
• Personal weight with tools must not exceed the rated weight capacity of ladders used.
• Perform work at heights up to 90 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work areas.
• Work in restricted areas (switch gear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces).
• Wear personal protective equipment as required.
• Work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required, including night shifts.

Physical/Mental Functions

• Positively identify colors of wire and other items as required.
• Comprehend reading of blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
• Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Handbook.
• Operate company truck with manual and automatic transmission.
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
• Hear and see well (naturally or with correction).
• Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.
• Tolerate prolonged standing and movement on foot.
• Climb ladders (all types).
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
