Electrical Service Technician - Charlotte, NC

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Inspect, identify hazards or defects, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems on structural wiring, service equipment, receptacles, switches, and light fixtures.
  • Perform repairs or replace per manufacturer recommendations while adhering to the National Electrical Code standards, recommended practices, and guides.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and scissor lifts to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
  • Engage with homeowners to inform them of issues and needed repairs, replacement, or appropriate upgrades to be completed at that time or at a scheduled time.
  • Lead customers to informed and confident buying decisions.
  • Effectively communicate with all customers, building officials and internal office support staff.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Must have clean driving record (No more than 3 points in 12 months)
  • Must pass Background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Able to work a flexible schedule which may include nights and weekends
  • Able to read technical diagrams of equipment, controls, and blueprints
  • Able to solve basic math problems as it applies to the NEC Calculations
  • Able to direct Electrical Apprentices assign to you as needed for work scope
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn new methods
  • Detail- oriented with excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrate Safe working practices and methods
  • Able to navigate the use of company provided electronic tablet
  • Document work completed with before and after photos
  • Accurately estimate and invoice repairs

Education / Experience

  • 3+ years of residential electrical wiring, repair and troubleshooting all aspects of the Electrical System preferred
  • FEAT or other Electrical Apprenticeship Training preferred
  • Journeyman's certification preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, crawling, and climbing ladders up to 24'
  • Ability to lift to fifty pounds without additional man-power or mechanical device
  • Ability to work in outside environments of heat & cold safely, including attics and crawl spaces
  • Report to work well- groomed in appearance and maintain clean uniform
