About the Role
Join our Field Services department as an Electrical Service Technician. In this role, you will perform testing, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control, and other electrical apparatus both in the shop and in the field. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests
- Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down, refurbishment, and parts replacement
- Wire circuit breakers
- Utilize and accurately read test equipment
- Read schematics and wiring drawings
- Troubleshoot circuit breaker controls
- Read and plot time-current curves
- Test transformers, including Power Factor and TTR
- Accurately and consistently document using Power DB
- Work with electrical tools and socket sets
- Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 1-5 years’ related experience in commercial and industrial maintenance
- Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems testing
- Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (inclusive of reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, and management ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC)
- Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college
- Similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
- Experience as a Wind Turbine Technician, Solar Technician, or Electrician
