Electrical Service Technician
About the Role
Lead Electrical Service Technicians install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and associated equipment and materials while adhering to National Electric Code standards (NEC) or equipment specifications. Technicians represent the company in a positive and professional manner while interacting with homeowners, business owners, and operators. They safely and efficiently use diagnostic equipment, hand, and power tools to identify electrical problems and recommend repairs. Technicians possess a solutions-based mindset and exhibit professionalism and analytical thought while troubleshooting systems and optimizing their knowledge, skills, and experience to satisfy customer needs.

Responsibilities
Field Work
- Troubleshoot all electrical systems and effect repairs per the NEC or equipment specifications
- Possess a strong knowledge of electrical equipment, materials, and major tools
- Perform all electrical tasks safely with minimal general supervision
- Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner
- Proceed with work from plans and specifications, supervising small crews
- Understand the scope of drawings and demonstrate the ability to supervise others in their work performance
- Direct and work with journeymen, apprentices, and helpers
Administrative
- Use existing technology to perform supplies and materials inventory and reorder when needed
- Review plans and specs and create an effective plan of work
- Quantify, monitor, and report progress of work
- Maintain company vehicle in good working order
- Code time sheets and submit expense reports
Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination
- Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily and perform BBS audits
- Identify hazards in the work environment and document them on a JHA or remove them
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of the company; support the goal of achieving zero accidents
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel
- Follow all safety rules and procedures and ensure others do as well (moral obligation)
- Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, work boots, safety glasses, respirator when required)
- Wear boot covers when entering homes and places of business
Requirements
- Current Driver’s License and reliable transportation required (not all job sites are served by public transportation)
- Knowledge of electrical installation and troubleshooting required
- High School diploma or GED (or equivalent training) required
- 3-5 years (or more) of previous electrical experience required
- Georgia Electrical Contractors License preferred
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
- Represent the company in a positive way (clean uniforms, vehicles, tools, professionalism)
- Positively identify colors of wires
- Bend conduit by hand with hand benders
- Use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches
- Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
- Operate equipment, trenchers, forklifts, lulls, and backhoes in a safe manner
- Always adhere to safe work practices as outlined in Company Safety Policy Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy
- Operate two-handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools & jack hammers
- Operate company vehicles according to state laws and company policies
- Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)
- Supervise assigned job site employees to complete project
