Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage electrical construction projects in alignment with contract requirements, engineering standards, and company objectives.
- Oversee all aspects of electrical scope including power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and installation activities.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), project specifications, safety regulations, or any other applicable codes.
- Lead project execution from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to schedule.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Review and approve subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and material procurement for electrical components.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring performance aligns with scope, schedule, and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with Superintendents and field teams to resolve issues between design and field execution.
- Maintain project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present financial reports, projections, and progress updates to senior leadership.
- Ensure accuracy of labor, equipment, and cost reporting systems (e.g., Viewpoint).
- Track RFIs, submittals, and change orders related to electrical scope.
- Communicate delays, changes, and impacts in accordance with contract requirements.
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring all OSHA and company safety protocols are followed.
- Identify, evaluate, and select qualified electrical subcontractors and vendors.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to Project Engineers and support staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 8–10+ years of experience in electrical construction, with a strong background in heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing large-scale electrical scopes within complex construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical systems.
- Experience with project management and construction software such as Primavera P6, Viewpoint, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, and/or similar systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and subcontractors.
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification (within the last five years) or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or electrical contractor license preferred.
