Principal Responsibilities
- Lead electrical system analysis and design for building projects, producing calculations, specifications, and design deliverables per applicable codes and IMEG standards
- Collaborate with project teams, senior engineers, and external consultants to support delivery of complex projects and integrated design solutions
- Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical concepts, and maintain professional client relationships
- Lead project planning activities, including budgeting and scheduling, to meet scope, deadlines, and objectives
- Document design decisions and client instructions, and monitor progress against percent complete and fee expended
- Evaluate engineering challenges and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior staff and consultants
- Perform in-process design reviews and apply IMEG quality control processes to meet quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
- Prioritize safety in all work by identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with electrical systems
- Support multidisciplinary coordination (engineers, architects, and project managers) to meet project goals
- Identify potential project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed
- Oversee work through bidding and construction administration phases
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
- Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
- Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
