Electrical Preconstruction Estimator

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and evaluating requests for proposals.
• Reviewing construction documents and understanding scope of work to bid.
• Executing take-offs of construction documents.
• Reading specifications to identify piping material types/joining methods, specific job requirements, and deviations from Company standard practices.
• Entering take-offs into database.
• Obtaining pricing for specialty materials.
• Executing material/labor evaluations for specialty materials.
• Soliciting bids from subcontractors and vendors.
• Informing immediate supervisor of any inaccuracies or omissions in quoted item or database.
• Developing and maintaining resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
• Attending divisional meetings.
• Providing quality control checks of other employees' work output.
• Aiding Bid Captains with estimate generation and finalization.
• Collaborating with team members to deliver an accurate product while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Experience with estimating techniques and cost control.
• Ability to perform detailed labor and material take-offs.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Bluebeam.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
• Knowledge of estimating software.
