Maintenance Electrical/Mechanical Technician
Summary: The Maintenance Electrical/Mechanical Technician will perform common maintenance and repairs for production equipment and facility related assets. This technician will be required to apply advanced troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical assemblies. A deep understanding of electrical systems, from 480v to control voltage, is necessary for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Can read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and workorders to perform required maintenance.
- Provides emergency repairs on production equipment to keep the facility operational.
- Performs scheduled maintenance and repairs on production equipment, including replacement of failed components such as bearings, belts, motors, power/control lines, etc.
- Has the ability to diagnose problems and failures, and repair or replace parts as required.
- Possesses the ability to disassemble and reassemble machines and components using specifications and/or blueprints, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools.
- Adjusts various types of devices and control systems.
- Understands systems, and component functions with their respective relationships to one another.
- Possesses a working knowledge of facility related systems.
- Possesses the knowledge for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, including 480v and below.
- Possesses the knowledge of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing control voltage systems.
- Demonstrates the ability to safely and effectively diagnose, isolate, and repair electrical faults in industrial equipment and systems.
- Utilizes electrical drawings, schematics, and test instruments (such as multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers) to identify root causes of issues.
- Strong knowledge of electrical components including motors, drives, relays, sensors, and control circuits.
- Has a strong understanding of the relationship between a PLC and mechanical assemblies.
- Follows proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safety procedures at all times.
- Communicates findings clearly and completes repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Understanding of Microsoft suites, and the ability to complete required physical and digital paperwork.
- Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience.
- Amonah Refrigeration experience preferred.
- Experience in a fast paced, cold, wet production environment.
- Able to collaborate well with Production with a strong customer service mindset.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum three years of experience in an industrial maintenance capacity preferred.
- Food or Medical plant experience is preferred, as well as knowledge of and compliance with GMP, and food manufacturing best practices.
- Mandatory ability to speak, understand, read and write in English.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Advanced knowledge/skills with forklifts, scissor lifts and electric pallet jacks preferred.
- Must be computer literate with intermediate skills in Excel.
- Reasoning ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.
- Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Standing, stooping, walking, bending, and climbing are all expected physical abilities, with or without accommodations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE
The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work scheduled weekends and holidays.
