Electrical Maintenance Technician - Third Shift
About the role
Troubleshoot equipment downtime issues using prints with an emphasis on electrical issues related to wiring, switches, sensors, etc. while providing advanced support to various software packages and controls documents.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot PLC programs, drive and scanner issues as needed for efficient operation of plant machinery, as well as, HMI Interface and graphics applications for more efficient operator interaction.
- Control “PG” and laptop devices that are necessary for troubleshooting equipment.
- Identify and make recommendations for program actions needed to ensure that major issues are resolved.
- Work in partnership with maintenance technicians, machine vendors and GKN manufacturing engineers to assist in development of effective automated PLC control and drive systems to support the production requirements and goals.
- Insure that proper equipment shutdown and startup procedures are followed.
- Troubleshoot robot issues and reteach/touchup points as needed.
- Provide direction and train maintenance personnel in corrective maintenance, proper wiring and installation of electronic equipment.
- Aid controls engineers with system access, backups and data recovery.
- Contact vendor to resolve problems related to controls issues.
- Maintain Lockout/Tagout, CPR, First Aid, Confined Space Entry and other safety related certifications.
- Communicate when there is an issue affecting the Environment, Health, Safety or Quality to his / her respective Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and some maintenance training/courses.
- AS in controls technology from accredited college or university or Journey Electrician required.
- Siemens S7 programming required.
- 4 years experience in manufacturing environment (preferably in Automated production) in lieu of AS degree or Journeyman Electrician.
- At least 2-5 years in a Maintenance Technician role.
Qualifications
- Ability to work as a team member under the direction of maintenance supervisor.
- Aptitude to understand logic control (relay & PLC) and how to manipulate the logic to repair problems.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Determines problem, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
- Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
