Electrical Maintenance Technician III

Amentum is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for our 1st Shift industrial maintenance team in Greenville, SC. Hours may vary based on business demand.

About the role

The Electrical Maintenance Technician provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on facility electrical equipment in an industrial, large commercial, or logistics distribution environment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders, troubleshoot, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems, including motors, drives, low voltage controls, lighting, PLCs, HVAC, and chillers.
• Identify and correct safety-related issues; perform independent equipment evaluations to detect potential failures.
• Maintain and repair electrical equipment up to 480-volt 3-phase and facility systems such as RTUs, doors, lighting, VFDs, and motor circuits.
• Utilize the building automation system to monitor building conditions and facilities equipment operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Provide service and feedback to customers on work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them.
• Enforce company policies and safety regulations, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper PPE usage.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment such as area personal fans, thermostats, buss bars, and disconnects.
• Troubleshoot electrical components, including PLCs, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single-loop controllers, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Operate diagnostic instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.
• Work with electrical system components such as MCCs, inverters, and motors.
• Differentiate between cause types (product, process, mechanical, electrical) during troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics; update prints/schematics for modifications.
• Operate hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware.
• Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility for customer benefit.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a Manager or Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• Three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
• Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Required math skills: arithmetic, application of electrical formulas (e.g., current, voltage), and conversion of measurement units.

Special Requirements

• Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
• Ability to cope with job-related stressors while maintaining performance and contribution levels.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times per shift.
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching during the shift.
• Repetitive 90-degree movements and wrist motions.
• Extensive walking throughout the plant during the shift.
• Use of a Company/Client-approved utility knife.
• Ability to differentiate wire colors for color-coding.
• Interact professionally with clients despite periods of stress.

• May require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Pay

$30 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate is a good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
