Electrical Maintenance Technician

Our Darlington Dixie® plant has been in operation for nearly 85 years and is one of the largest employers in Darlington County. The site produces plates, bowls, and other tableware products and employs over 400 people. The facility underwent a $145 million upgrade and expansion in 2020, shifting focus to exclusively making plates and bowls.

About the role

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will perform corrective and preventive maintenance on electronic and electrical systems for high-volume manufacturing equipment, including plate forming presses, automated packaging machinery, and industrial printing presses. This role partners with operating teams to troubleshoot, repair, and improve equipment reliability and uptime. The work environment is primarily indoors, climate-controlled, and clean. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working a 12-hour rotating shift that includes nights, days, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Use technical knowledge and craft skills to execute planned and unplanned maintenance on manufacturing assets such as printing presses, plate presses, conveyors, robots, and automated case packing/stacking equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and controls problems following plant policies and procedures.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment failures and issues.
• Execute maintenance plans, procure parts, and document work activities.
• Review, develop, and modify work orders for all plant equipment and enter them into the facility maintenance system.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of electrical technical degree OR 5 or more years of experience as an Industrial Electrician.
• Experience with single and 3-phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 volts.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLCs, AC and DC motor controllers, and drives.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Associate or Technical degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation, Electronic Technology, or related field.
• At least 2 years of electrical/electronic and/or instrument & control troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens PLCs, and/or Control Logix/RS Logix.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PanelView and FactoryTalk.
• Experience with servo systems.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics to troubleshoot electrical and electronics issues.

Pay

Starting pay is based on skill and experience. A $2/hour shift incentive is applied to all hours worked.
