Electrical Journeyman

An Electrical Journeyman is responsible for installing, alteration, addition, and repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials on construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Install wiring systems, outlets, fixtures, and other components.
• Independently install switchboards, transformer raceways, and lighting control systems.
• Read blueprints and schematics.
• Conduct tests on electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
• Manage a small team of apprentices, providing guidance and training as needed.
• Collaborate with Foreman and team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Assist Foreman with apprentice daily layouts and tool/material ordering for upcoming phases of work.
• Identify and resolve complex electrical issues during the course of construction.
• Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and single man-lifts to perform scope of work.
• Maintain a “safety first” approach to all work while remaining in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and standards.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience in the electrical field.
• Valid Certified General Electrician License is a plus.
• OSHA 30 Certified is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and diverse environments, including confined spaces and heights.
• Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and the use of hands and arms to operate equipment.
• Good vision, strong sense of balance, and no fear of heights.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, blueprints, pipe bending, and industry NEC code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Must be fluent in both speaking and writing English.
