About the role
As a Journeyman Electrician, you will ensure data center electrical systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards—driving uptime, safety, and compliance while supporting project delivery across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduits, lighting, and control systems in strict adherence to codes and standards.
- Perform routine inspections of electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, implementing effective and efficient solutions.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries; report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and practices and utilize appropriate tools and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine layout and customer needs.
- Cookordinate with electricians, technicians, and data center staff to install, test, and commission systems within project timelines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and issues.
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices and less experienced electricians as needed.
- Keep work areas clean and organized; maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Assist in preparing project status reports as required.
- Respond promptly to emergencies (e.g., outages, failures) to minimize downtime; participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Travel 60–70% to various data center locations or project sites, following travel policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week; overtime and night shifts as required.
- Valid driver’s license meeting insurance requirements to drive company vehicles.
- 4+ years of experience as an electrician; 1+ year in data center or similar preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; excellent understanding of electrical principles per local and national codes.
- Ability to self-motivate and manage workflow independently and collaboratively; strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Proficiency with tools/equipment: saws, threaders, wire tuggers, knock punches, hand/mechanical/hydraulic benders, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers.
- Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered).

- High school diploma or GED required; completion of a certified apprenticeship program (as required by state law).
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state laws).
- Additional certifications (OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.) are a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Employees must be able to hear, speak, and communicate effectively.
- Work occurs in data center environments with potential exposure to electrical hazards, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.
- Physical requirements include bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
- Must lift at least 50 lbs, raise arms above shoulder level, and perform overhead work for extended periods.
- The ability to climb and carry ladders (up to 12 ft), navigate stairways, and work at heights up to 90 ft using ladders, scaffolds, or lifts is essential.
- Employees must access restricted areas (e.g., switchgear rooms, vaults, tunnels, crawl spaces) and wear full PPE.
- Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected) and accurate color identification are required.
