Responsibilities

  • Determines or recommends actions or work techniques to achieve plant equipment repair or maintenance, or to improve the quality or cost effectiveness of such repairs or maintenance.
  • Determines or recommends types of materials, supplies, equipment or tools to affect repairs, maintain, or improve the quality or cost-effectiveness of or on plant equipment.
  • Maintains employee contact sheets and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel.
  • Controls the usage of materials and supplies for maintenance activities and assigned personnel.
  • Performs craft work as necessary or in the event no qualified hourly personnel are reasonably available to perform the assignment.
  • Assures that assigned maintenance shop and other work areas are kept clean, orderly, and organized.
  • Assures that assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles are clean, organized, and in good working order.
  • Understands and operates facility to maintain all compliance requirements.
  • Notifies Manager or appropriate agency if compliance exceedance occurs.
  • Completes assigned training requirements.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with cycling power plant or industrial process operations.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a instrument and control technician in an industrial environment.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity in a power plant or industrial environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver's license.

Personal & Technical Skills

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to carry out detailed instructions with limited supervision.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • A good working knowledge of power plant instrumentation and controls, including routine maintenance.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to use logical and divergent reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to read, interpret and retrieve information from engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • Ability to learn, instruct and execute emergency response and firefighting techniques.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively with others.
  • Ability to train Maintenance personnel.
  • Intermediate to advance computer skills.
