About the role

The Clorox Company is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Technician (EIC Tech) to join our team at our Atlanta Main facility. In this role, you will ensure the smooth and safe operation of all electrically controlled devices in our facility, which uses state-of-the-art packaging equipment and utilities to manufacture and distribute Clorox Cleaning Home Care and Laundry products.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in accordance with OSHA and Clorox safety standards, including following electrical safety rules, evaluating risks, and correcting unsafe conditions.
• Troubleshoot basic electrical problems, including voltage and amp readings, wiring tracing, relay evaluation, motor testing, sensor evaluation, and breaker/fuse checks.
• Troubleshoot PLC problems, including connecting to PLCs, diagnosing hardware/software issues, and safely implementing solutions.
• Troubleshoot motor and motor control problems, including evaluating motors, starters, relays, VFDs, and servo motors.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical equipment such as motors, starters, breakers, transformers, relays, drives, PLCs, control panels, lighting, alarms, and utility controls.
• Troubleshoot HMI software and hardware issues, isolating problems and safely implementing solutions.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment, including transmitters, valves, actuators, flow meters, and level sensors.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain mechanical equipment, including pumps, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and conveyors.
• Troubleshoot control network problems, including wiring, corrupted files, failed components, and setup issues.
• Troubleshoot quality inspection systems, case coding, and bottle coding systems.
• Maintain electrical prints, PLC programs, and VFD/HMI parameters for assigned systems, ensuring updates are documented and backed up.
• Determine parts needed for assigned systems, assess criticality, and ensure stock availability.
• Provide electrical support for capital and internal projects, including job walks, prints, scopes, contractor management, and system upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with the Controls Change Management System for non-emergency changes.
• Assist with training and knowledge-sharing among team members.
• Complete and submit all required paperwork daily.
• Maintain a clean work area and workstation, and ensure tools are in good condition.
• Perform basic mechanical work as needed and learn additional mechanical skills.
• Prioritize safety in all work performed.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of electrical safe work practices, AC/DC electrical theory, electrical prints, motor control, PC hardware/software, computer networks, HMI systems, and pneumatic/hydraulic valves.
• Ability to troubleshoot control panels, motor control equipment (e.g., starters, VFDs, servo motors), Allen Bradley PLCs, and various sensors (e.g., photo eyes, proximity sensors, limit switches).
• Experience with troubleshooting systems such as relay logic, cam-driven switch boxes, heat/humidity control, process control valves, and coding systems.
• Industrial experience with automated packaging equipment (e.g., fillers, cappers, conveyors, palletizers) is highly desirable but not required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a two-year college curriculum in a technical area, or vocational school certificates in mechanical/electrical technical training.
• Vendor courses in electrical/controls are desirable and may be considered as experience.
• Wide exposure to various technical areas during past work experiences will be evaluated on an individual basis.
