About the role

This position is responsible for maintenance, proper operation, and troubleshooting of all mechanical and electrical systems on production and support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage all control components within a PLC system.
  • Perform maintenance activities within a manufacturing environment on production and support equipment.
  • Incorporate LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures as required by policy.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to impacted areas and repair/remove defective parts.
  • Determine, through regular inspections, the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements if the parts are reusable, and identify parts that need to be ordered.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments not performed by machine operators to ensure proper operation.
  • Repair electrical equipment within the limitations of expertise and training.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other tools to make and repair parts.
  • Remove tools and clean impacted work areas upon completion of work.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Make recommendations concerning equipment and/or procedure modifications.
  • Locate and set production machinery as required by production schedule.
  • Perform and assure all duties are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner.
  • Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with team members and customers.
  • Perform other job-related duties in area of responsibility as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • 1-3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems and associated software, with the ability to troubleshoot controls and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of three-phase electrical systems, welding, and machine shop practices.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, plumbing, pneumatics, conveyors, and conveying systems.
  • Ability to read and complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Mechanical and standard electrical skills.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particulates, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, high-frequency vibrations, and noise levels requiring hearing conservation protection.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for an 8-hour shift.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without the aid of material handling equipment.

Schedule

5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Accountabilities

  • Report to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Report problems that cannot be resolved immediately.
