Electrical Helper- Farmington, NM

About the role

As an Electrical Helper, you will work alongside Electricians and Electrical Foremen to install, maintain, and repair electrical components across customer sites. You will gain exposure to both low- and high-voltage applications while serving industries such as Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Coal, and Wind Energy. This position reports to the Electrical Department Manager and is primarily based out of the Farmington location.

Responsibilities

• Assist Electricians and Electrical Foremen with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
• Install lighting, electrical outlets, and circuit breakers
• Install conduit and cable tray systems
• Troubleshoot electrical problems under the supervision of a state journeyman electrician
• Ensure all work complies with relevant codes and standards
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Travel to various job sites as required
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment pertinent to the electrical trade
• Assist with paperwork and documentation to ensure accurate record keeping, billing, and inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Successful completion of an Electrical Trade School Program, Instrumentation and Controls Program, or at least one year of experience in electrical work
• Basic understanding of electrical theory
• Experience bending conduit, pulling, and terminating wires
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Flexibility to work a schedule of four weeks on and one week off

Working Conditions

• Walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and stairs; crawl; kneel
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
• Wear safety equipment as per OSHA/MSHA requirements

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Completion of a thorough background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Participation in random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested per company policy
