About the role
Kenny Electric is seeking a Foreman I to lead and manage project crews on electrical installations under $500,000. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical commercial or industrial construction and experience supervising teams.
Responsibilities
- Manages and leads crews on projects under $500,000
- Oversees a team of up to three (3) Journeymen and manages a workforce ranging from 5 to 15 employees
- Plans and details projects thoroughly before starting, including layout and installation of electrical components based on specifications and codes; coordinates site MOPs (Methods of Procedure)
- Collaborates with BIM Specialist on project needs
- Affords material procurement, including organizing and tracking purchase orders
- Develops project schedules and provides trade milestones to relevant staff; communicates with crew and project leadership to ensure coordination and satisfactory progress
- Keeps Project Manager informed of any project changes or delays; develops an understanding of project financials and assists the Project Manager as needed
- Studies and evaluates blueprints, spec books, and tracks changes and as-builts
- Reviews and ensures project work's compliance with current NEC codes throughout project lifecycle
- Coordinates with QA/QC on labeling and equipment turnovers
- Completes daily project documentation
- Inspects electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and repair needs while ensuring compliance with local codes
- Affords assistance with project closeout process
- Mentors and trains direct reports, evaluates and identifies future field leaders; ensures crew upholds Company policies and holds them accountable for performance
- Completes required employee evaluations and provides timely feedback
- Performs other assigned duties as needed
Qualifications
- Current Journeyman or Master Electrician with a Colorado license
- Five years of documented work in electrical commercial or industrial construction with at least six months of prior supervisory experience
- Ability to run two or more crews on large and/or small projects and supervise, evaluate, and develop Lead Journeymen, Journeymen, and Apprentices
- Extensive experience in wiring systems, all phases of project installation, electrical control work, troubleshooting, and purchasing of electrical material and parts
- Knowledge of current NEC and industry-related practices, including area classifications
- Holds OSHA 30 Certification and current First Aid/CPR Certification
Physical Requirements
- Able to work off all types of ladders, lifts and elevated platforms (electric or gas powered)
- Able to work at various heights up to 50 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, or other safe work areas
- Able to work in restricted areas, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces and attics
- Able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
- Able to carry tools and materials up to 50 pounds from the ground to overhead
- Able to constantly move on feet, climbing ladders and working overhead
- Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
- Must be able to get to various customer sites as required
