Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking engineering, professional, technical, and administrative support personnel for our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor, but will take day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. Pay, benefits, and employment functions are provided by AIS.
Responsibilities
- Drafting in Bentley MicroStation: one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, Instrumentation and Controls Diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm, and communication drawings.
- Preparing data sheets, specifications, and walkdown reports.
- Collaborating with electrical engineers and other CAD drafters within the same work group.
- Supporting construction and operational activities related to design outputs.
- Performing field walkdowns, sometimes in radiological contaminated areas.
- Minimal travel expected (<5%).
Schedule
Typical work schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10-hour days (4/10 schedule).
Requirements
- Associate’s or higher degree in a technical field and 10–15 years of related experience, or a high school diploma and 20+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills in technical specialty; may lead other technicians.
- Ability to obtain a Q-clearance from the Department of Energy.
- Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution and industrial control systems.
- Experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
- U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age, and ability to meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screen, and background investigation.
Special Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance; position is designated as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing role, requiring ongoing random drug testing in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
- Job-related pre-placement medical examinations may be required.
This position is contingent upon contract award and funding; selected applicants may receive an offer but cannot begin work until funding is confirmed.
