Expected compensation: 47.40 USD Per Hour HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire an Electrical Engineering Technician to build and maintain the physical infrastructure used to validate automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), autonomy hardware, and related systems. In this role, you’ll design and build wiring harnesses, rack and wire server infrastructure, and assemble Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches. With guidance from design engineers, you’ll own harness builds from design through validation while also supporting the organization, inventory, equipment, and day-to-day operation of the lab. The ideal candidate is a hands-on and highly organized electrical technician with strong wiring harness, rack integration, and hardware troubleshooting experience. You’re comfortable translating engineering documentation into reliable physical builds, working independently in a lab environment, and maintaining the tools, components, and documentation needed to keep testing operations running efficiently. As An Electrical Engineering Technician, You'll Design, build, and validate wiring harnesses for HIL test benches and rack builds, including pinouts, connector and wire selection, termination, and electrical testing. Install and wire compute nodes, network switches, power units, and related test assets while maintaining organized and clearly labeled power and data cabling. Manage day-to-day lab operations, including build kitting, parts and consumables inventory, asset tracking, tool calibration, workspace organization, and ESD and electrical safety practices. Diagnose hardware faults and partner with Test and Validation Engineers to reproduce and troubleshoot issues, escalating complex failures with clear findings. Maintain accurate build documentation, including pinout tables, BOMs, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, revision histories, and known issues. Requirements An associate’s degree or vocational/technical certification in electronics, electromechanical technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience3+ years of hands-on experience in a lab, bench technician, data center hardware, or similar environmentDemonstrated wiring harness design and build experience, including reading and creating wiring diagrams and pinout tables, selecting connectors and wire gauges, and crimping and terminating automotive-grade connectorsExperience with connector systems such as Molex, Amphenol, Rosenberger, or similar, including backshell assembly and strain reliefExperience independently racking and cabling servers and network equipment from rack elevation drawings, including structured cabling, cable management, and power distributionExperience maintaining a lab, test floor, or hardware stockroom, including kitting builds, managing parts and consumable inventory, and keeping shared workspaces organizedProficiency with hand tools, torque tools, crimpers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power suppliesWorking knowledge of AC/DC electrical safety and ESD handling practicesAbility to lift and move rack equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Bonus Qualifications Experience with automotive ECUs, embedded systems, or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benchesBoard-level SMT rework experience down to 0402, occasionally 0201, and BGA reworkIPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or equivalent training in wiring harness workmanship standardsExperience with harness design or CAD tools, including SolidWorks, 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX), CATIA, or related PLM systemsFamiliarity with the Linux command line for basic host verification, including ping, SSH, and service status checksBasic Python or Bash scripting experience for running bring-up or test scripts Benefits Pre-tax commuter benefits Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costsHireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance401k package Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt.
