About the role
Henderson is seeking an Electrical Design Engineering Manager to join one of our business lines dedicated to one of our oldest and largest clients. The role serves as a hybrid discipline technical leader and people manager, focusing on technical excellence and team development.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Develop and execute design projects, and assist sector leaders with goals, policies, and standards.
- Project Management: Participate in project scheduling meetings, validate and monitor progress, provide direct coaching, and conduct individualized meetings to guide goal setting. Facilitate project coordination activities, manage emails, and coordinate project delivery.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, maintain proactive communications, and resolve conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors. Share information and updates with peers and leaders.
- Design Oversight: Direct and oversee the preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications. Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Continuous Learning: Identify and fill knowledge gaps, stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, and perform to industry-wide expectations associated with a PE license and Engineer of Record status.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (relevant field preferred)
- Minimum 12 years of relevant progressive experience
- Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards
- Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods
- Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- High emotional intelligence and ability to lead with empathy and clarity
- Self-starter with a willingness to teach, manage, and help others
- Trustworthy and capable of handling sensitive information
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
- Additional certifications aligning with the relevant technical field preferred
- Sustainability certifications preferred
- Performance as an Engineer of Record preferred
