About the Role
Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for the vertical building industry while working closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on real project work. This internship supports work within project budgets and cross-functional collaboration to help meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to documentation, coordination, final-check preparation, addenda, and periodic job site observations while supporting projects across education, government, and healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards
- Assist with researching commercially available equipment
- Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files
- Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
- Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
- Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement
Requirements
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Skills
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry
Pay
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
