Electrical Engineering Co-op

About the role

As an Electrical Engineering Co-op, you will support the team by designing, analyzing, and developing innovative engineering solutions by applying electrical engineering principles. This co‑op term will run from Spring 2027 through Summer 2027, providing extended, hands‑on experience working alongside engineers in a highly technical environment.

Location

Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

Responsibilities

• Instrument selection for process variables like temperature, pressure, flow, and positioning systems based on project requirements.
• Design instrument interface, routing, and mounting solutions in addition to control panel sizing.
• Develop algorithms, architectures, and requirements for control systems.
• Develop and design electrical circuits and schematics.
• Develop and deliver unique engineering solutions used in a nuclear environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in engineering.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Available for the full assignment period: Spring 2027–Summer 2027.
• U.S. Citizen.

Pay

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia is expected to be between $25.05 and $31.83 per hour. The hourly rate is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations; total compensation may include additional elements such as medical and retirement benefits.
