Electrical Engineer - Water Treatment

About the role

This is an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with water and wastewater project experience to join an established, employee-owned, full-service civil engineering firm specializing in water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure. The Electrical Engineer will support the completion of water and wastewater engineering projects throughout North Carolina, working on treatment plants, pump stations, and lift stations.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with project managers and clients to conduct evaluations, prepare reports, develop detailed specifications and drawings, and manage permitting and submittals.
  • Supports RFIs, submittal reviews, and project modifications as they arise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Includes regular site visits and participation in client meetings to support project delivery from design through completion.

Requirements

  • 5 to 15 years of electrical engineering experience on water and wastewater projects
  • Experience managing multiple projects, tasks, and assignments concurrently
  • Experience with medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems, including Motor Control Centers, generators, and switchgear
  • Experience preparing single line diagrams, motor elementary diagrams, and instrument loop wiring diagrams
  • Ability to perform electrical area classification and specify electrical equipment
  • Experience designing emergency backup systems
  • Extensive knowledge of the NEC and NFPA 780
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or Revit
  • Experience with arc flash software (eTap or SKM)

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • 5 to 15 years of electrical engineering experience on water and wastewater projects
  • Experience managing multiple projects, tasks, and assignments concurrently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain
  • Experience with SpecSizer (Caterpillar) or Powersuite (Cummins)

Pay

$100,000 to $165,000 per year, based on experience.
