Job Summary
This entry-level Electrical Engineer (EIT) role involves working under the mentorship of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects. You will gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects including power distribution systems, instrumentation, control systems, industrial networks, telemetry, lighting, and generator systems.
Your Responsibilities as an Electrical Engineer
- Support multi-discipline project teams in the production of electrical design and construction drawings and specifications.
- Assist in the design of electrical equipment, power distribution, and control systems, including exposure to PLCs, wiring schematics, and industrial network architecture.
- Perform basic engineering calculations including load calculations, conductor sizing, and assist with transformer sizing and single-line diagrams.
- Develop NEC-compliant construction drawings for service upgrades and system improvements.
- Contribute to electrical design efforts for municipal infrastructure projects such as lift stations and irrigation systems, ensuring compliance with NEC and client standards.
- Assist with construction phase services, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs.
- Support field activities such as site visits, inspections, and commissioning/startup of electrical systems.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members and contribute to technical reports and project documentation.
- Maintain a strong commitment to learning industry standards, including the National Electric Code (NEC).
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
- Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
- Internship or co-op experience in electrical design, utilities, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
- AutoCAD experience
- Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to perform occasional fieldwork and travel to project sites as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (required).
