About the role

The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Engineer at Stantec's Buildings team is responsible for developing basic system designs within their own discipline under supervision. They also delegate tasks to project designers, coordinate with the project team, and assist with reviews of shop drawings and submittals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops basic system designs within own discipline under supervision of a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer
  • Delegates tasks to project designers as appropriate
  • Works in conjunction with the project team to prepare project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work outlined in the proposal
  • Covers project deliverables by reviewing them prior to submission to QA/AC reviewer
  • Coordinates with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design
  • Follows quality management process
  • Participates in the engineering/Professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g. attend meetings / seminars / conferences)
  • Affords assistance to the Project Engineer on project related tasks
  • Maintains high utilization goals and adheres to project budget

Requirements

  • Possess basic knowledge of engineering practices within own discipline
  • Knowledge of commonly used and accepted design and construction concepts, practices, procedures
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and specifications, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Proficient in applicable software (i.e. AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
  • Working knowledge or proficiency in power systems software (e.g. SKM) and power cable ampacity calculation software (e.g. CYME CYMCAP) preferred
  • Exhibits strong communication skills to confidently interact and communicate scope and coordinate tasks with vendors and inter-discipline co-workers
  • Displays effective organization and time management skills with projects, reports and other duties; effectively manages multiple priorities and is punctual and dependable

Qualifications

  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 3 years related industry experience preferred
  • Registered professional engineer (PE), Fundamentals of engineering (FE) / engineer in training (EIT) or other professional certification based on area of expertise preferred
  • Datacenter experience preferred
