Electrical Engineer, Lead (Sign on Bonus available for select candidates!)

About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to design and analyze electro-mechanical components and systems for pumps, motors, and generators. This role involves leading studies, detailed analysis, and testing on new and modified machine designs, as well as developing solutions to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and expertise in electrical engineering to design and analyze complex rotating equipment and systems.
- Lead technical teams in design and analytical activities for product design, development, and production.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and actively develop their skills.
- Apply engineering software tools and systems to evaluate Electromagnetic (EM) fields of electromechanical products, including motors, generators, and exciters, using 2D and 3D electromagnetic finite element analysis (EMFEA).
- Create and implement electrical system models to capture component interactions, including analyzing VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), transformers, excitation systems, and control systems.
- Lead projects by planning and coordinating complex engineering solutions, preparing schedules, and estimating manpower and material requirements.
- Design and conduct experiments, collect data, and interpret results.
- Drive solutions in ambiguous situations and communicate technical information clearly through documentation, reporting, and presentations.
- Create models and drawings, conduct design reviews, and present trade studies.
Requirements
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering required; PhD preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, specifically with rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis (EMFEA), System Modeling, Acoustics, or Thermal Analysis.
- Experience with tools such as Ansys Maxwell, Simplorer, Simulink, Mathcad, MATLAB, Flux2D, RMXPRT, or other Electric Motor/EMFEA design tools.
- Experience creating models, drawings, design reviews, and trade studies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership experience in small design teams coordinating multiple projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite for clear communication.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to DoD requirements and able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances.
Pay
Salary range: $120,000 – $165,000 per year. The final offer will consider qualifications, relevant experience, scope of the position, and market/business factors.
