Electrical Engineer Intern/Co-op Spring 2027 (multiple locations)
About the role
This position is a full-time (40 hrs./week), onsite co-op for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering. The co-op will immerse you in the consulting engineering world for one or more semesters, building industry-competitive skills in a hands-on environment while working on real CMTA projects. You’ll be trained by Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit and create real construction drawings. The role starts January 2027 and runs through Spring 2027, with flexible dates aligned to your school calendar. Our goal is to bring co-op students back for multiple rotations and consider them for full-time employment upon graduation.
Responsibilities
- Learn and implement electrical system basics—power, power distribution, lighting & controls, fire alarm systems—for new construction and renovation projects while supporting the engineering team.
- Produce detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems in buildings.
- Create one-line diagrams and schematics.
- Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
- Help with data collection and/or field verification.
- Work with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project.
- Travel locally for job site inspections and field work.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably as a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year).
- Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
- AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Ability to work full time throughout the co-op term.
- Current work authorization in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
