Electrical Engineer Intern/Co-op Spring 2027 (multiple locations)

About the role

This co-op position provides hands-on training in electrical design for the built environment. You’ll work alongside Professional Engineers, learn AutoCAD and Revit, and produce real construction drawings for CMTA projects. The role is full-time (40 hrs./week), onsite, and starts January 2027 through Spring 2027, with flexible dates aligned to your school calendar. We encourage multiple co-op rotations and consider top performers for full-time employment after graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and implement electrical system basics—power, power distribution, lighting & controls, fire alarm systems—for new construction and renovation projects while supporting the engineering team.
  • Produce detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems in buildings.
  • Create one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
  • Participate in data collection and/or field verification.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project.
  • Travel locally for job site inspections and field work.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering; sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year) preferred.
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Ability to work full-time throughout the co-op term.
  • Current U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available.

Pay

Competitive hourly pay rate with eligibility for overtime pay. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic/market considerations.
