About the role

CMTA, a Legence Company, offers a unique opportunity for hands-on training in electrical design. This position is a full-time (40 hrs./week) onsite role with a competitive hourly pay rate and eligibility for overtime pay. It starts in August 2026 and runs through Fall 2026, with flexible dates aligned with the school calendar. The goal is to provide multiple co-op rotations, potentially leading to full-time employment after graduation.

Job Functions

  • Learn and implement the electrical system basics such as power, power distribution, lighting & controls, fire alarm systems for new constructions and renovation design projects.
  • Support the engineering team in designing and implementing electrical systems/infrastructure as well as energy efficient measures in building projects.
  • Create detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems of buildings.
  • Generate one-line diagrams/schematics.
  • Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
  • Contribute to data collection and/or field verification.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or a junior (3rd year).
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
  • Preferred AutoCAD and REVIT experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Ability to work full time in the Columbus office throughout the co-op term.
  • Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.

Qualifications

  • No immigration sponsorship available for this position.

Skills

  • Strong technical skills in electrical engineering.
  • Good understanding of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
