About the role
This position is responsible to provide knowledge and expertise in their discipline related to Wanaprum and Priest Rapids Hydro Dams, 230kV Switchyard and other Supporting Facilities within Grant County PUD’s Power Production Department.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement low/medium impact Electrical Projects throughout the Wanapum and Priest Rapids Hydro Power Generation Facilities, as well as the Power Production’s 230kV Switchyard and Supporting facilities.
- Research, Design and Support the implementation of New and Upgraded equipment throughout the Hydro Generation Facilities within their field of expertise, with moderate guidance from supervisor and peers.
- Project Management Support that include budget forecasts, scheduling, coordination, construction/commissioning for medium-sized projects.
- Provide technical knowledge to assist other Engineers, Electricians, Operators or other departments throughout Power Production in regard to troubleshooting, equipment outages, breakdowns or during detailed design of equipment based on knowledge and experience.
- Perform complex Engineering on critical/high risk equipment related to the Electrical Equipment throughout the Power Production Hydro Generation Facility.
- Develop Technical specification and standards for ordering equipment and parts to utilize new technology and industry best practices during designs.
- Perform work on systems with a high level of risk to regulatory compliance.
- As the Main Engineering Support on at least 1 of the following areas: Protection & Automation Engineering, Controls & Automations Engineering and/or Power & Distribution Engineering.
Qualifications
- Knowledge related to Generators, Exciters, Governors and Supporting equipment.
- Familiar with High/Medium Voltage Transmission and Distribution Equipment.
- Experience with Station Service and Substation Equipment related to the Powerhouse Distribution Systems.
- Experience with Industrial Control Systems related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Motor Control Circuits and Instrumentation Devices such as (Flow Sensors, Level Sensors, Pressure Sensors, Temperature Sensors, etc) with an understanding of PID Loop Controls.
- Skills with Computer Programming in control languages such as Ladder Logix, C++, Structure Text, Block Logix, Visual Basic, etc.
- Troubleshooting, maintenance experience and optimization techniques related to Operating systems, Electrical Equipment and around Generation Hydro Dams and High/Medium/Low Voltage Distribution systems.
- Basic Understanding of Data Communication protocols and networking equipment related to Protective Relays (SEL), PLC, HMI, VFD, Ethernet/Fiber switch communication systems.
- Technical writing and ability to draft reports associated with performance of critical equipment and their impacts to operations and maintenance.
- Generate, interpret, review and revise existing/new drawings.

Pay
- Engineer III: $104,822 - $177,107 Midpoint: $140,964
- Engineer IV: $112,585 - $192,317 Midpoint: $152,452
- Engineer V: $130,666 - $228,062 Midpoint: $179,364
Schedule
Salary is commensurate with experience.
