About the role

This is an in-office position for hire at Inspired Flight’s HQ in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical schematics and interconnects
  • Design of electrical cable harnesses, circuit boards, and firmware
  • Tuning of aircraft parameters to improve flight performance
  • Performing test flights aircraft to validate designs
  • Implementing design best practices such as design for manufacturability and testability

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of circuit design and PCB layouts utilizing tools such as Altium
  • Familiarity with drone flight control systems (PX4 or Ardupilot) and/or robotic autonomy technologies
  • Familiarity with 3D printers, Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and other development tools and equipment
  • Experience with hardware and software product design cycles
  • UAV Pilot experience and/or a FAA Part 107 License

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline is required
  • 1-5 Years experience in a related field
  • Experience preferably in the following industries: UAS, aviation, aerospace, defense sector

Skills

  • Tuning of flight control algorithms including PIDs and sensor filters
  • Understanding of circuit design and PCB layouts utilizing tools such as Altium
  • Familiarity with drone flight control systems (PX4 or Ardupilot)
  • Familiarity with 3D printers, Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and other development tools and equipment
  • Experience with hardware and software product design cycles
  • UAV Pilot experience and/or a FAA Part 107 License
