About the role

Provide technical advice and guidance for assigned electrical engineering projects. Assist Senior Engineer in developing Electrical Engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls, and protection of the environment.

  • Review, investigate, and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects
  • Manage small to medium site construction, expansion, or modification projects, and assist the Senior Engineer on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion, or modifications
  • Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
  • Develop working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment
  • Assist the Senior Engineer in contributing to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas
  • Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests
  • May represent the site on company-sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams
  • Perform other duties as required

Location

Our Bagdad operations in Arizona offer housing at a subsidized rate, a family-friendly atmosphere, and numerous amenities including an aquatic center, golf course, and fitness center. Located 100 miles northwest of Phoenix, Bagdad is home to the world's first commercial-scale concentrate leach processing facility, as well as one of the longest continuously operating solvent extraction/electrowinning plants in the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Electrical Engineering with an understanding of Mechanical and Process Engineering techniques
  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Familiarity and some experience in Electronics, PLCs, and Control Systems
  • Skill in managing small to medium Engineering projects
  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
  • Experience with or classes related to Power Systems Engineering
  • Experience with Power System Modeling software such as SKM, eTAP, etc.
  • Familiarity with industrial AC and DC motors, VFD’s, and plant instrumentation
  • Familiarity with powerline layout, engineering, and construction
  • Familiarity with MV power systems
  • Leadership and construction/mining experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC & NFPA70E Regulations
  • Familiarity with designing Power, Instrumentation, and Controls Systems
  • Experience with ETAP and AutoCAD or similar software for design
  • Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Understanding of project life cycle
  • Experience in reading electrical drawings and P&Ids

Pay

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.

Schedule

Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam and all required training and/or testing. Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.
