Responsibilities

  • Perform all levels of electrical design including the development of construction documents.
  • Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters; receive direction as needed, especially on highly complex assignments.
  • Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
  • Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
  • Represent project team in client communications and resolutions.
  • Design complex electrical systems in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
  • Handle more complex tasks and/or designs within project assignments.
  • Oversee designs through project construction/completion.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients.
  • Conduct field observation visits to accurately document existing conditions.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks to complete designs efficiently.
  • Complete electrical calculations including load studies, voltage drop, panel/transformer/feeder loading, generator sizing, and illumination levels.
  • Design and layout electrical system devices, distribution components, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems applicable to the project type.
  • Produce accurate project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget.
  • Attend coordination and design meetings as needed.
  • Define and determine project specifications and budget construction cost estimating.
  • Address comments from clients, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and other review authorities; adjust designs accordingly.
  • Review project-related construction administrative items such as shop drawings, RFIs, and change order proposals if directed.
  • Work within established project budgets.
  • Maintain and develop a working knowledge of all codes applicable to the discipline.
  • Develop proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Five or more years of relevant industry-related experience in design of commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi-family, industrial, and similar projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, SKM software tools, and/or lighting design software (e.g., AGI, Visual).
  • EIT and LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $103,000 - $132,000, including a comprehensive benefits package and eligibility for variable compensation based on experience.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Eligible for remote work arrangements.
  • Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Occasional outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Occasional mobility around job/construction sites including walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling, and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Occasional local travel during the business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
