Electrical Engineer II

About the role
The Engineer II, Electrical is responsible for developing and maintaining electromechanical system designs under the direction of a senior engineer or manager. They lead the development of subsystems in larger design efforts or the complete electrical system development in smaller projects. They provide technical direction to junior engineers, designers, and drafters and engineering support to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Translate requirements into a system architecture and detailed design.
- Design and integrate industrial automation and control systems including PLC controls, motor controls, and general machine controls.
- Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
- Validate designs through analysis and testing.
- Coordinate own design efforts as well as other engineers and designers to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years experience in developing and maintaining electromechanical system designs.
- Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials.
- Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.
- Ability to collaborate with others to clarify requirements and develop solutions.
- Lead design reviews consisting of multi-disciplined and cross functional team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years experience in the following:
- 480VAC power generation and distribution
- Engine/generator controls
- Industrial automation and controls systems
- Electrical traction systems (DC & AC)
- Motor controls and variable speed drives
- Directing individual engineers or designers
- EIT certification.
- Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software.

Working Conditions
- Office deskwork, requiring sitting, walking, using phone & computer.
- Up to 5% travel, including international.
- May lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
- Can tolerate variable and sometimes challenging conditions during visits or inspections of company equipment in a railroad environment.

Pay
The pay range for this position is between $81,300 and $121,800. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
