About the role

RTX has an opening for an Electrical Engineer – Facilities (Design, Estimating, Scheduling) hands-on individual contributor role. This position supports facilities electrical design, electrical distribution, and construction project management for office renovations, laboratory fit-ups, and manufacturing equipment installations. The role is based in Andover, Massachusetts, with potential support for RTX sites in Tewksbury, Woburn, and Pelham, NH.

Responsibilities

  • Project estimating, load sizing, coordination studies, arc flash studies, and development of construction drawings
  • Preparation of bid documents and construction administration
  • Support projects from design through bid cycle, construction project management, and closeout
  • Meeting with internal customers and developing continuous improvement projects
  • Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources (IT, safety, security, trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers)

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in facilities electrical engineering design and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years’ experience in building electrical engineering, including:
    • High, Medium, and Low Voltage
    • Primary and Secondary Power
    • Multi-Frequency Power
    • Grounding Solutions
    • Load Sizing
    • Control Systems and interlock systems
    • Coordination Studies
    • Lighting and Controls
    • Lightning Protection
  • 5+ years’ experience with construction project management, including customer scoping meetings, budget monitoring, scheduling, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close-out
  • Experience with SKM short circuit & arc fault analysis and feeder & transformer sizing
  • Proficiency with AutoCad, REVIT, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project Scheduler

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interfacing and presenting to leadership, internal customers, IT, security, construction trade workers, and subcontractors
  • Familiarity with building electrical systems and general understanding of building construction and civil works
  • Experience coordinating electrical designs with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, IT, and security)
  • Experience in Facilities Engineering, Design, and Construction Project Management
  • Experience with manufacturing facilities
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control systems (Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric)

Pay

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

This is an onsite role. Employees in onsite roles will work primarily onsite, including all production and maintenance employees essential to product development.
