About the role
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a full-time Electrical Designer (EIT) to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Support electrical design efforts on a variety of projects across the country, with emphasis on Hanson’s Government market
- Assist with planning, design, and construction support activities under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers and project managers
- Prepare and revise electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
- Support the design of electrical power distribution systems, interior and exterior lighting systems, and fire alarm/low-voltage systems
- Aid in lighting and power system design, grounding systems, electrical distribution layouts, and equipment selection
- Prepare calculations and assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews and field observations
- Cook up with project engineers, designers, and CAD/Revit technicians
Requirements
- Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months
- 0-2 years of experience in consulting professional services or a closely related field
- Familiarity with electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Exposure to electrical, building, and energy codes
- Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
- Understanding of power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical calculations
- Familiarity with: Lighting calculation software (Visual, AGI32), Basic power system analysis tools (voltage drop, short-circuit calculations), Energy analysis tools (COMcheck, FLACOM, EnergyGauge)
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Motivation to pursue professional growth and licensure
