About the role

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a full-time Electrical Designer (EIT) to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical design efforts on a variety of projects across the country, with emphasis on Hanson’s Government market
• Assist with planning, design, and construction support activities under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers and project managers
• Prepare and revise electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
• Support the design of electrical power distribution systems, interior and exterior lighting systems, and fire alarm/low-voltage systems
• Aid in lighting and power system design, grounding systems, electrical distribution layouts, and equipment selection
• Prepare calculations and assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews and field observations
• Cook up with project engineers, designers, and CAD/Revit technicians

Requirements

• Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months
• 0-2 years of experience in consulting professional services or a closely related field
• Familiarity with electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
• Exposure to electrical, building, and energy codes
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
• Understanding of power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical calculations
• Familiarity with: Lighting calculation software (Visual, AGI32), Basic power system analysis tools (voltage drop, short-circuit calculations), Energy analysis tools (COMcheck, FLACOM, EnergyGauge)
• Soft Skills:
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Motivation to pursue professional growth and licensure
