Electrical Engineer/Designer
About the role
The Electrical Engineer/Designer at Salas O’Brien designs electrical systems for various facility types including high-rise buildings, data centers, multifamily spaces, retail/mixed-use spaces, and commercial spaces. Responsibilities include designing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems, producing electrical design drawings using Revit software, performing field investigations, conducting load calculations, equipment sizing, and short-circuit analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for various facility types
- Produce electrical design drawings using Revit software
- Perform field investigations to assess existing conditions and gather project data
- Ensure quality control, scheduling, and programming of electrical design deliverables
- Cook up and communicate progress with MEP teams
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and short-circuit analysis
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering field
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in electrical design and construction
Skills
- Technical Skills: demonstrated project coordination and facilitation experiences, solid understanding of power distribution, emergency power systems, grounding, and lighting design, experience with breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and voltage drop calculations, familiarity with electrical codes (NEC), energy efficiency standards (IECC), and industry best practices, experience with high-rise electrical systems, hospitality power infrastructure, and renewable energy integration
- Adaptability: flexibility and willingness to work on various projects and tasks, embracing new challenges with enthusiasm
- Communication: strong verbal and written communication skills for design and specifications
- Software: proficiency in Revit
- Collaboration: ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and contractors
- Initiative: demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative to drive projects forward
