About the role
The Electrical/Electronics Specialist position at the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) – Moose Lake is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and supervision of all commercial kitchen equipment, electrical distribution panels, and related electrical equipment. This role also involves providing service, maintenance, training, and installations to the facility's fire alarm systems, as well as training and documentation for the assigned IP work crew on safety practices and installation procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance, installation, and supervision while supervising an Incarcerated Person (IP) work crew on repairs to all commercial kitchen equipment, electrical distribution panels, and related electrical equipment.
- Provide service, maintenance, training, and installations with an IP work crew to the facility Fire alarm systems.
- Provide training and documentation for assigned IP work crew on proper safety practices and installation procedures of repairs, preventive maintenance repairs and projects.
- Maintain security of all tools, equipment and supplies so that the security of the facility is not compromised.
Requirements
- Vocational/technical degree in Electronics or Electronics experience with primary responsibility for the installation, operation, programming and maintenance of commercial security, environmental and fire alarm control systems.
- Registered as a Class A Journey or Master Electrician with the Department of Labor and Industry.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Registered as a Class A Journey or Master Electrician with the Department of Labor and Industry.
- Preferred qualifications: Electronics experience with primary responsibility for the installation, operation, programming and maintenance of commercial security, environmental and fire alarm control systems.
- Experience working in a correctional or secured environment.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.

Pay
$34.16 - $39.66 / hourly; $71,326 - $82,810 / annually

Day Shift 7 am - 3 pm, Monday - Friday
