HybridInformation TechnologyFull-time

About the role

The Electrical Designer supports the design and documentation of power distribution products and integrated electrical systems, including control panels, panelboards, switchgear, skids, ePods, and other custom equipment packages. This role works closely with Electrical Engineers to translate layouts, schematics, engineering markups, customer requirements, vendor information, and production feedback into accurate drawings and bills of materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain electrical drawings using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design platforms.
  • Develop and update one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings, panel layouts, cable schedules, device layouts, and related electrical documentation under engineering direction.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, customer specifications, vendor drawings, engineering markups, and production redlines.
  • Convert design concepts, sketches, and engineer markups into complete, accurate, and manufacturable drawing packages.
  • Work closely with Electrical Engineers and Design Engineers to support design reviews, drawing standards, design decisions, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for designed products, ensuring part numbers, quantities, device tags, ratings, and drawing references align with project requirements.
  • Cook up with procurement, project management, and production teams to support material readiness, project schedules, production questions, and successful manufacturing execution.
  • Aid with designs for control panels, panelboards, switchgear, switchboards, low-voltage distribution equipment, medium-voltage equipment, and auxiliary electrical systems as applicable.
  • Assist with component layout, wire routing, terminal block layouts, labeling, clearances, accessibility, assembly details, and other design items that improve manufacturability and serviceability.
  • Maintain drawing revisions, as-built documentation, engineering change updates, and project drawing packages in accordance with internal standards.
  • Review drawings and BOMs for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and alignment with engineering and production requirements.
  • Support production build questions, first article inspections, factory acceptance testing, and troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Average of 4 years of electrical CAD, electrical design, drafting, manufacturing design, industrial design, power distribution, automation, construction documentation, or similar experience.
  • Strong CAD skills. Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or SolidWorks Electrical is preferred; experience with other electrical or mechanical design tools will also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components such as breakers, fuses, relays, contactors, CTs/PTs, terminal blocks, transformers, panelboards, control panels, ATS equipment, UPS equipment, and switchgear components.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple design tasks at once.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, procurement, project management, production, quality, and field support teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UL 508A control panels, industrial control panels, panelboards, switchboards, or switchgear design.
  • Familiarity with electrical standards and codes such as NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, IEEE C37 series, IEEE 1584, UL 508A, UL 891, UL 1558, UL 857, and UL 67.
  • Experience supporting low-voltage or medium-voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing, production floor support, wire labeling, terminal layouts, component layouts, and electrical assembly documentation.
  • Experience with ERP, PLM, document control, engineering change notices, or revision-controlled drawing environments.
  • Experience in data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, renewables, or other mission-critical environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment

  • May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings.
  • Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
