About the role
Responsible for creating and revising drawings and parts utilizing AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical in 2D and 3D formats for new and/or improved designs consisting of electrical low/medium voltage power equipment, engine-driven rotating machinery, AC/DC drive and control systems, and other duties within production assembly and field installation environments.
Responsibilities
- Work independently with direction from other designers and engineers in reading, interpreting, creating, and revising electrical drawings, bills of materials, parts, and computer-generated reports.
- Utilize design and drafting software to develop layouts of new electrical design concepts.
- Draw electrical components and assemblies in three-dimensional models.
- Create complex two-dimensional electrical component drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, wiring tables, and harnesses.
- Create advanced two-dimensional electrical assembly and installation drawings from models.
- Create Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders by revising 2D and 3D drawings and bills of materials, including creating new parts in accordance with company processes.
- Interface with production and field personnel to investigate issues with fit-up and other matters.
- Check and review the work of other designers.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- First-hand working knowledge of drafting tools or CAD and applicable software (SolidWorks Electrical and/or AutoCAD).
- Intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of applicable Data Management software (Enterprise PDM and/or Autodesk Vault).
- Experience with ASME Y14.5M required.
- Learn and become proficient in the most recent required department and company procedures, software, and systems.
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Read, understand, and draw electrical schematics that meet department standards.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with a cross-functional audience.
- Complete and maintain certifications or safety training.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Demonstrate a positive and can-do attitude.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 2-6 years of related experience.
- Associate's degree (two-year technical school or college) strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional climbing of ladders and crawling underneath trailers.
- Work in office, shop floor, and test site settings.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Occasionally exposed to cold, heat, noise, mechanical/electrical fumes, or odor.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers.
- Normal vision with or without corrective lenses.
